Football Manager 25 has been canceled, Sports Interactive has announced.
In a statement published in the official account of the football manager in X, the developer declared that “after a wide external discussion and careful consideration with Sega”, the approach will now change to the next game of the series.
“For the large number of you who preordered FM25, we greatly thank you for your trust and support, I regret to have disappointed,” says the statement.
“We know that this will come as a great disappointment, especially since the launch date has already moved twice, and you have been anxiously anticipating the first revelation of the game. We can only apologize for the time you have taken to communicate this decision. Due to the fulfillment of the interested parties, including the legal and financial regulations, today it was the earliest date that we could issue this statement.
“We have always been proud to deliver the best value games for the money they give you innumerable hours of enjoyment, which feel it is worth every moment and every penny you spend. With the launch of FM25, we set out to create the greatest technical and visual advance of the series for a generation, establishing the construction blocks for a new era.
“Due to a variety of challenges that we have been open to date, and many more unforeseen events, we have not achieved what we set out to do in sufficient areas of the game, despite the phenomenal efforts of our team.
“Each decision to delay the launch was taken with the aim of bringing the game to the desired level, but, as we approached the critical milestones in the change of the year, it was unequivocally clear that we would not reach the required standard, even with the adjusted timeline.
“While many areas of the game have achieved our goals, the experience and interface of the general player is where we need to be. As a wide evaluation has demonstrated, including the consumer game test, we have a clear validation for the new direction of the game and we are approaching, however, we are too far from the standards you deserve. “

The study adds that although it could have launched Football Manager 25 in an unfinished state and continue building on it with patches, “that is not the right thing”, and that a delay beyond March would have arrived too late in the current football season .
The football manager was supposed to originally launched in early November, before obtaining its first delay and a launch date of November 26.
This was delayed again until March 2025, and Sports Interactive said that his first delay “had not been enough to ensure that the quality and experience of the game meet their expectations and our very high standards.”
The game was established to be one of the most notable updates in the history of the series, mainly until the inclusion of women’s football for the first time and the Sports Interactive decision to implement a completely new graphic system that uses the Unity engine, a movement He previously said he would mark “the starting point for the next 20 years of the study.”
This transition is now taking more than expected, hence the initial delays and now the decision to cancel the game directly and change the development to the following.
