According to a report by the South China Morning Post (SCMP), Yang Wei, the chief designer of China’s advanced stealth fighter jet, has been quietly removed from an official academy website.
The report notes that Yang has not appeared in public for more than a year, prompting speculation online about his current status.
Role in China’s J-20 Program
Yang Wei is widely recognized as the chief designer of the Chengdu J-20, China’s fifth-generation stealth fighter aircraft. The J-20 is considered a cornerstone of the country’s modern air combat capabilities and a symbol of China’s rapid military aviation advancements.
The aircraft is developed by the Chengdu Aircraft Corporation and is operated by the People’s Liberation Army Air Force.
