Ruud Van Nistelrooy has ruled out concerns that he could be fired from his role as Leicester’s manager only 56 days after his reign.
The Foxes have lost their last seven Premier League games and another defeat on Sunday at Tottenham would equal a record race of the club established in 2001.
They are the second background, two points of security, after the 2-0 defeat last weekend for Fulham.
Van Nistelrooy, who only replaced Steve Cooper in November, has won only two of his 10 games in all competitions, one of which was the victory of the third round of the FA 6-2 Cup over QPR.
“I am focused on getting this team out of the situation, that is my only concern,” he said, when he was asked if he was worried about his work.
“I am with the players, working with everyone in Leicester to get the best of this team and in difficult times. In difficult times, you must be strong, show characters, work and persist and commit.
“We are united and committed. That is the spirit and you can see that in the field. I can see a team with spirit and fight. If we continue this race it will end.”
Van Nistelrooy also said that Wilfred Ndidi is not on sale this month with Monaco interested in the midfielder.
Ndidi signed a new three -year contract, with the option of one more year, in the summer after helping the Foxes win the promotion of the Premier League and Van Nistelrooy is not thinking of letting Nigeria’s international leave.
“No, of course not,” he replied when asked if Ndidi, which is close to a return of an lesion in the hamstrings, could leave.
“Wilfred is a key player and a person in the team and in the club and I’m glad that he is almost there to help the team again.
“We know how much we have missed it and we know we need it. Wilf is key in the coming months, a key part of this team that can get us out of this situation.”
