Funcom has confirmed that its MMO Dune survival: Awakening will be launched on PC through Steam on May 20.
The base game will be priced at $ 49.99/€ 49.99, with early orders that begin soon, according to Funcom. Players that pre-Ordenan Dune: Awakening will receive the decoration ‘Terrario de Muad’dib’ for their homes in the game.
Funcom said previously that the versions of the survival game console would arrive at a later date.
Together with the announcement, Funcom has released a free characters creator and a reference tool in Steam, which will allow players to create their character and test the specifications of their PC before Dune launch.
“Dune: Awakening is the most ambitious survival game ever done, set on the most dangerous planet in the universe, Arrakis,” says Funcom.
“Whether a Dune fan or not, the vast world will immerse you in an epic experience that is based on the science fiction masterpiece of Frank Herbert and Denis Villeneuve’s films.”
VGC recently visited Funcom in Oslo, Norway, to play an almost final version of Dune: Awakening.
“Dune Awakening, the new survival game based on Frank Herbert’s science fiction universe, feels surprisingly authentic for recent Hollywood films, but at the same time develops Villeneuverse with new ideas that we have not yet seen on the screen, or in the books. “
