UEFA Champions League selections for AC Milan vs. Real Madrid

Before you tune in to Tuesday’s game, you should check out football expert Martin Green’s Champions League picks. After working in the sports betting industry for several years, Green became a professional sports journalist and handicap expert and has covered the game around the world. Last year he was profitable in multiple areas in his football selections for anyone following him on apps and betting sites, including qualifying for the Euro Cup (+6.30 units), the EFL Cup (+4.47), the FA Cup (+3.07) and the Champions League. League (+3.05) among others.

For Real Madrid vs. AC Milan, Green chooses Real Madrid with an Asian handicap of -1 for a payout of -117. The expert points out that the whites will rest well, since their weekend match in Valencia was postponed due to flooding in the region. That gives them more than a week since the loss to Barcelona to prepare for AC Milan, plus they will have home field advantage.

The Rossoneri could get an extra spark if Rafael Leao returns to the starting eleven. However, Green believes that Madrid’s dominant trio of Vinícius Júnior, Kylian Mbappé and Rodrygo It will greatly test Milan’s defense.

“The Real Madrid players will be determined to make amends for that sad loss to Barcelona last time out, and they could take out their frustration on AC Milan this week,” Green told SportsLine. Stream the game here and watch complete soccer coverage on CBS Sports Golazo Network.

2024 NFL Trade Deadline: Steelers land WR Mike Williams from Jets; Aaron Rodgers gives his opinion on the agreement

0

The Pittsburgh Steelers have spent the last few months trying to trade for a wide receiver and finally did so on Tuesday.

With just hours before the nfl trade deadline, the Steelers were able to finalize a deal with the New York Jets for Mike Williams, CBS Sports nfl Insider Jonathan Jones reported. Steelers first called Jets about potential Williams trade more than three weeks agobut the two sides could not reach an agreement until Tuesday.

For the trade to happen, the Steelers will send a 2025 fifth-round pick to the Jets. According to ESPN, the Steelers will assume the remainder of Williams’ contract for this season. The veteran is a free agent in 2025.

“Mike had a bad injury last year, that ACL, and it’s tough to come back from, and he worked hard all offseason,” Aaron Rodgers said. reacting to trade on The Pat McAfee Show. “It’s a difficult injury, I had that injury and it’s the mental part that takes the longest. We knew that with the arrival of Davante there would be fewer targets for everyone… If this gives Mike more opportunities, that would be fantastic.”

The Steelers haven’t been too shy about the fact that they were looking for a receiver. During the low season, they tried to land Brandon Aiyuk, who ended up signing an extension to stay in San Francisco. Last month, the Steelers also participated in the Davante Adams sweepstakes, but came up short when Adams went to the Jets.

Adams going to New York likely helped the Steelers land Williams. With Adams and Garrett Wilson on the roster, Williams became expendable with the Jets. The 30-year-old receiver only caught 12 passes in nine games with New York this season, but averaged an impressive 13.8 yards per catch. Williams is also just two years away from a 2022 season with the Chargers, where he caught 63 passes for 865 yards. However, his numbers were way down in 2023 after his season was cut short due to an ACL injury.

Williams will now go from catching passes from Rodgers to catching passes from Russell Wilson. Williams will join a group of receivers that already includes George Pickens, Calvin Austin III and Van Jefferson.

In fact, the Steelers were close to making a trade for Christian Kirk in late October, but the deal fell apart after the Jaguars receiver broke his collarbone in week 8. Williams may not have been Pittsburgh’s first option, but he should be able to contribute in Arthur Smith’s offense.

The Binding of Isaac’s free online co-op mode finally has a release date

0

Somehow, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is celebrating its 10th anniversary this week, and to mark the occasion, developer Edmund McMillen has announced that the poop-obsessed roguelike’s long-awaited online co-op mode will be fully released on December 18. November.

Online co-op for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (which is the 2014 remake of McMillen’s 2011 original, if you’re unfamiliar), was initially announced back in September of last year. Since then, several beta sessions have been held for owners of the Isaac’s Repentance expansion.

But now, just over a year since online co-op was confirmed, McMillen has announced that the mode will fully launch for everyone on November 18. It will support 2-4 players online, with its own completion markers, and arrives for free as part of a “sizable” balance update.

According to McMillen, this update “focuses heavily on improving elements [players] I think they’re mediocre/bad.” And while no additional details have been shared yet, McMillen has posted some old design documents related to Isaac, including final storyboards, boss designs, and enemy treatments, below his social media announcement.

But if that’s still not enough to get you into the spirit of celebrating The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth’s 10th anniversary, the game and all of its expansions are currently discounted on Steam until November 11. There’s a 50 percent discount on the base game and a 41 percent discount on the full package, which you’ll need to get if you want the DLC.

As for what’s next for McMillen, his cat-breeding roguelike adventure Mewgenics (initially announced in 2013) is expected to arrive next year.

WI vs ENG 2024/25, WI vs ENG Third ODI Match Preview

0
So far it has been an unlikely clash of ideologies in the Caribbean. In Thursday’s one-sided defeat, the value of experience was very much in evidence in Evin Lewis’ match-winning attack: despite missing ODI cricket for three years, his muscle memory was very much in tune with the challenge, as he withstood the threat of England’s new ball. to demolish their opponents in just 25 overs. In the process, he quickly surpassed his 2000th run in the format, which is more than double the tally of England’s most experienced batsman in the format. [checks notes] …Adil Rashid.

That battle-hardened narrative had taken a firm grip on the series midway through Saturday’s second game. Shai Hope is clearly a good cricketer, but who could have imagined that his ODI record would one day rival that of Chris Gayle, Brian Lara and Desmond Haynes? And yet, his 17th century in the format was exquisitely paced as ever, filled with the kind of belief in better times that England’s T20-trained top four can only guess they will achieve, given how few times they have been asked let them resist. the fallow intermediates of a game of 50 or more.

Hope encountered nine different bowlers over the course of his innings, which is surely a record of some description. On the one hand, this was a tribute to England’s wealth of options, as a new generation of cricketers arrives on the scene with two professionally useful strings on each bow. On the other hand, it was proof that more is less, as Liam Livingstone’s management became increasingly confusing with each new change on the pitch.

But then, suddenly, those old certainties crumbled and an entirely new narrative took over. One in which the power of responsibility arose in England’s vacuum of experience, to set up an improbable series finale.

Sam Curran had batted above number 7 only once in 32 ODIs before this campaign, and Livingstone above number 6 only twice in 30. But both men responded to the hour of need with precisely the kind of courage that management had expected. to convince you to leave this experimental team.

Curran’s run-a-ball 52 was significantly more valuable than it looks on paper, providing the ballast through the middle overs that allowed England to deepen the chase, before Livingstone, the most unlikely of the six captains of England in all formats this summer, will drop bomb after bomb after bomb. He hit nine sixes in total, a figure bettered by only three English players in an over-50s contest. And if you squinted at the final scorecard, once a daunting target of 329 had been chased with overs and wickets to spare, you could almost believe we were back to the team’s heyday before 2019, when such feats self-confidence were a daily occurrence.

So which philosophy will dominate the day (and the series) in Barbados? The stakes are significantly higher than they might have seemed three days ago, with the West Indies eager to win their first series since England’s last visit 11 months ago, not to mention vital points for qualification as they plot their route back to the top of the table after getting lost. in the 2023 World Cup.

As for England, Marcus Trescothick’s joyful embrace of his captain said it all as the players left the field in Antigua. England’s interim coach admitted last week how difficult it has been to strike the right balance between nurturing newcomers to the team and cultivating the winning culture this white team once took for granted. Now presents an unlikely opportunity to achieve both goals in one fell swoop.

West Indies LWWLL (last five tests, most recent first)
England WLLWW

In the spotlight: Shimron Hetmyer and Jordan Cox

Shimron Hetmyer was on violence leave Saturday afternoon and he took it…albeit briefly. There were 10.1 overs left in the innings when the West Indies No. 6 headed to middle, the kind of scenario he usually enjoys in the T20 format. This time, however, his team was already 234 for 4 on the board, and he did his bit to push them past 300 with three sixes in his first ten deliveries. But then he holed out in search of a fourth and came out firing for 24 off 11 balls. However, it was the second-highest innings of his seven innings since his ODI return in July 2023, after his 32 off 30 balls, also against England, in December. Like his England counterparts, his lack of familiarity with the format appears to be holding him back, but the talent and potential is undeniable.

These are an important few months for Jordan Cox, one of the most fascinating characters outside of England’s international set-up. His relentless ambition is palpable – by his own admission, almost to the point of arrogance – but England’s management generally likes what they see. This opportunity to bat at No. 3 in the restarted ODI lineup, ahead of three guaranteed Tests as Jamie Smith’s backup, means he has until Christmas to make a real case for his long-term inclusion in his plans. However, four games into his England career, he is struggling to make much headway. Despite a confident projection of belonging to the middle-order, he managed 21 ODI runs off 50 balls on this tour, and was bounced rather gullibly by Shamar Joseph on Saturday. His legendary field was also out of boiling, which is perhaps a suggestion of concern. He hasn’t blown his chance yet, but with so many key batsmen missing on this tour, he could find himself pushed down the pecking order unless he shows his true colors soon.

Team News: Few surprises in prospect with series on the line

West Indies: 1 Brandon King, 2 Evin Lewis, 3 Keacy Carty, 4 Shai Hope (captain and week), 5 Sherfane Rutherford, 6 Shimron Hetmyer, 7 Roston Chase, 8 Alzarri Joseph, 9 Gudakesh Motie, 10 Matthew Forde, 11 Jayden Seales

England’s temptation to play will be tempered with a series on the line.

England: 1 Phil Salt (week), 2 Will Jacks, 3 Jordan Cox, 4 Jacob Bethell, 5 Liam Livingstone (captain), 6 Dan Mousley, 7 Sam Curran, 8 Jamie Overton, 9 Adil Rashid, 10 Jofra Archer, 11 John Turner

Field and conditions: time is once again a factor

Five years ago, England and the West Indies scored 724 runs in an ODI at Kensington Oval, but since then there have only been two scores above 300 in 11 games. The forecast of heavy rain could again cause interruptions.

Statistics and curiosities

  • The West Indies have won 19 of their previous 42 ODIs at Kensington Oval, including each of their last two appearances against India and England in 2023.
  • England have a head-to-head meeting with the hosts in Barbados, with seven wins and six losses in 13 previous meetings dating back to 1986.
  • England achieved their most successful ODI chase on the field in 2019.

Quotes

“After the first game, we talked about how much time we had and even with the ball, about being a little more patient. It’s not about learning on the job but from mistakes and I thought we did pretty well from the first game. If we can to win 2-1, it would be a great achievement for a young group.” .Sam Curran on England’s learning curve

Jason Kelce apologizes for Ohio State-Penn State cell phone incident

0

Retired Eagles center Jason Kelce apologized during ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” pregame show for grabbing an unruly fan’s phone and throwing it to the ground before the Ohio State-Penn State game on Saturday.

“In a heated moment, I decided to greet hate with hate,” Kelce said before ESPN’s broadcast of the Buccaneers-Chiefs game featuring his brother, Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce. “I came up short this week.”

Jason Kelce was attending the Big Ten matchup between the Buckeyes and the Nittany Lions in State College, Pennsylvania, when the incident occurred.

A video on social media showed Kelce walking through a crowd near Beaver Stadium and fans asking for photos and bumping fists when a fan began booing him and yelling an anti-gay slur directed at his brother.

At that point, Kelce grabbed the fan’s phone and threw it to the ground, then turned to face the man dressed in Penn State gear. Kelce appeared to use the same anti-gay slur during the exchange, before another fan stepped between them before the altercation could escalate.

“I think everyone has seen on social media what happened this week,” Kelce said on the ESPN broadcast. “Listen, I’m not happy with anything that happened. I’m not proud of it. In a heated moment I chose to meet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that’s a productive thing to do, I really don’t.” t. I don’t think that leads to discourse and it’s the right way to approach things. At that moment I fell to a level that I shouldn’t have had.

“The bottom line is I try to live my life by the golden rule. That’s what I’ve always been taught,” he said. “I try to treat people with common decency and respect, and will continue to do so in the future.”

Kelce retired from the Eagles earlier this year and is in his first season as an ESPN analyst.

Former Pakistan spinner Zafar Gohar joins Middlesex from Gloucestershire

0
Former Pakistan spinner Zafar Gohar has joined Middlesex on a two-year deal after qualifying as a homegrown player.

Gohar spent four seasons with Gloucestershire as an overseas signing but has now been granted British citizenship. He last played for Pakistan in 2021, when he won his only Test international match in Christchurch. He also featured in an ODI against England in 2015.

“Zafar is a player we have admired for some time and have been following closely,” said Middlesex general manager of cricket Alan Coleman. “We are delighted to have secured his services as a local cricketer for the next two seasons.

“In championship cricket we have identified the need to increase our wicket-taking threat in all conditions and adding an international quality player to our line-up will strengthen us and add greater threat on all types of surfaces.

“Adding a senior bowler to our white-ball teams will also help the team in those situations where we have lacked some experience in the shorter formats in recent years.

“The addition of someone like Zafar to our team adds not only quality but also invaluable experience, and our young spinners will benefit hugely from having him in the playing group. We are excited to see what Zafar can do for Middlesex and we are delighted to be able to have it on board.”

Gohar claimed 118 wickets at 31.71 in first-class cricket for Gloucestershire, as well as 17 List A wickets and nine T20 wickets, while also contributing useful runs down the order. However, he only featured in six County Championship matches in 2024.

Gohar said: “I am delighted to be joining Middlesex and making Lord’s my home ground for the next two years. “It is a club steeped in history and to be part of this next chapter is hugely exciting.

“The opportunity to contribute to the red and white ball teams formed a big part of my decision to make Middlesex my home, and I can’t wait to play my part in what I hope will be a successful 2025 for the club.”

Joel Embiid injury update: 76ers star could return from knee issue this week, but NBA investigation persists

0

Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid has been the talk of the nba this season despite not having set foot on the court yet. However, Embiid’s absence from the court could end soon, as the team is hopeful he can be cleared for action as soon as Wednesday night’s matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers, according to Sam Amick.

Embiid has not yet played due to what the team calls “left knee tightness.”

The big man tore his meniscus late last season, returned for the playoffs and then aggravated the injury again in the first round against the New York Knicks. However, he played the rest of the series and also participated in the Olympics over the summer, helping Team USA win another gold medal at the Paris games.

As a result, the Sixers were hopeful he would be ready for the start of the season, but that was not the case. There has been no indication that Embiid has suffered a new injury or had any sort of setback, and the Sixers have been vague with their updates, making the entire process confusing.

The nba eventually opened an investigation into the situation after the Sixers sat Embiid (and Paul George, who was dealing with a knee bruise at the time and has since returned to action) for the season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks. After compiling his findings, The league fined the Sixers $100,000. for “violating the league’s injury reporting rules.”

The Sixers, who saw Paul George debuts with the team on Monday night — they’re off to a terrible 1-5 start and the pressure has started to mount, both internally and externally. embedded had an altercation with a Philadelphia Inquirer columnist in the locker room after a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

In October, columnist Marcus Hayes had written an article for the Inquirer with the headline “Joel Embiid disrespects the Sixers, the game, their greats and himself. Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley are right to criticize him.” . Hayes not only criticized Embiid’s injury history, both this season and in the past, but also mentioned his son and deceased brother, both named Arthur.

Embiid was not speaking to the media at the time and addressed reporters for the first time this season on Nov. 1. At that press conference, he responded.

“When I see people say ‘he doesn’t want to play,’ I’ve done too much for this city, putting myself at risk of people saying that,” Embiid said. “I think it’s stupid. … I’ve done too much for this damn city to be treated like this. I’ve done too much. But like I said, I wish I was as lucky as everyone else, but that doesn’t mean I’m not trying or doing what whatever is necessary to be there, something that I will be here very soon.

After the Sixers’ loss to the Grizzlies on Saturday, Embiid confronted Hayes when the locker room opened for postgame media availability. The two exchanged words before Embiid shoved Hayes and the two were separated by team security. Shortly after, the The league announced it had opened an investigation. about the situation that could result in a possible suspension of Embiid.

Due to his reluctant knee and the league’s investigation, Embiid’s exact status remains murky. It’s clear, however, that he’s close to returning, which is great news for a Sixers team that desperately needs him back. Only the Bucks and Utah Jazz have worse records than the Sixers, who still hope to compete for a title this season but will have to fight their way back to the playoffs first.

After laying out the dream Helldivers 2 crossovers he thinks about while he’s in the shower, CCO Pilestedt says you’ll have to “see what happens” when it comes to massive PvE battles.

0

Look, almost everyone loves Helldivers 2, even if things have looked a little shaky on that front at times this year, and sometimes the best way to show it is by demanding that Arrowhead fill it with crossovers. We’re not talking about official crossovers, and Arrowhead CCO Johan Pilestedt just went down his personal list of those that could be theoretically interesting, as well as saying something about the possibility of big PvE battles.

Now, before we get into its selections, it’s important to emphasize that the developer made it clear that “these are just musings,” and that it believes that attempting them all would “dilute the intellectual property and turn it into a ‘non-Helldivers’ experience.” However, it’s clear that Pilestedt has thought a lot about the potential for such things, having “an extended list of IPs I’d really love to tackle” that he posted in a Tweet.

Without further ado, here is their list:

So, yeah, as you might expect, you’ll find plenty of movie franchises in your dad’s DVD collection if he’s a guy of a certain age, and a few other things he might like too, especially if he’s been spelling his efforts. kill things for Super Earth by diving into Space Marine 2. If they could get it together, it seems like the developer agrees with a fan’s suggestion that the Warbonds, which are just homages to these IPs, could be a good “middle ground” option “for such things. , to avoid that potential dilution that you mentioned.

In a similar ballpark of things that could possibly be added to Helldivers 2 at some point down the line, Pilestedt also answered a player’s question about whether Arrowhead was thinking about adding “massive PVE battles” involving “something like 20-30 players.” in total. the same big shootout. “Yes, it appears quite often in the studio,” said the developer, “but there are engine limitations. We’ll see what happens.”

One thing that’s coming to Helldivers 2 is a new patch today, so be sure to check out what it includes while you’re here daydreaming about cooking a Xenomorph with your flamethrower.

Ben Stokes missing from long IPL 2025 auction list; Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Mitchell Starc list highest base price

0
The long list of registered players, which will be purged by the IPL after receiving input from franchises, contains all the prominent Indian players who were not retained by their franchises. Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, who captained Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders but not retained, are listed at a base price of INR 2 crore, along with R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, who were both. released by Rajasthan Royals.
Mohammed Shami, who has not played cricket since the 2023 ODI World Cup final in November last year due to various injuries, is also listed at a base price of INR 2 crore after not being retained by the Gujarat Titans.

The other Indian players with the maximum base price of INR 2 crore are Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, Venkatesh Iyer, Avesh Khan, Ishan Kishan, Mukesh Kumar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, T Natarajan, Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Harshal Patel. Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj and Umesh Yadav.

Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan, which went unsold in the last auction, were listed at a base price of INR 75 lakh.

Stokes had also opted out of IPL 2024 to manage his workload and fitness. During the Hundred in August earlier this year, Stokes suffered a hamstring injury, which kept him out for two months.

Mitchell Starc, who became the most expensive player in IPL history when KKR bought him for Rs 24.50 crore in 2024, is back in the auction pool at a base price of Rs 2 crore. Jofra Archer is also listed for the same base price as he has not played in the IPL since 2023, when he appeared in just five games for Mumbai Indians due to injury issues.

England fast bowler James Anderson, who has not played a T20 since 2014 and has never been a part of the IPL, has registered for the auction at a base price of INR 1.25 crore. Anderson retired from international cricket during this English summer and took up the position of bowling coach with the England team.
The long list also includes a player from Italy, Thomas Draca, who played from Brampton in the Global T20 Canada. Draca, 24, was most recently picked up by MI Emirates for the upcoming ILT20 season in the United Arab Emirates.

Each franchise can form a squad of up to 25 players, meaning there are 204 spots available in the auction after 46 players were retained from last season’s ten teams.

Each team has a total purse of Rs 120 crore to build their teams, but after retention, the Punjab Kings have the largest remaining purse (Rs 110.5 crore) to spend in the mega auction, followed by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (83 crores). Delhi Capitals (INR 73 million), Gujarat Titans (INR 69 million), Lucknow Supergiants (INR 69 million), Chennai Super Kings (INR 55 million), Kolkata Knight Riders (INR 51 million) , Mumbai Indians (INR 45 million), Sunrisers Hyderabad (INR 45 million), Rajasthan Royals (INR 41 million).

This time, the IPL has allowed teams to retain up to six players, of which a maximum of five can be limited and a maximum of two can be uncapped. The six players can be held directly before the auction or can be bought back using Right-to-Match (RTM) options at the auction, or a combination of both.

If a player has been bought by another franchise in the mega auction, the franchise he was a part of in IPL 2024 can intervene at the end of the bidding process and buy back their player using the RTM option by matching the highest bid. After that, the franchise that made the winning bid will have another opportunity to increase the bid to whatever amount they want. In that case, the player’s former team will have to match the increased bid to buy back their player.

Having retained only two players, PBKS has the most RTM options (four) in the auction. RCB, who retained three players, have three, while Delhi Capitals, who retained four players, have two. Five teams (MI, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, SRH and LSG) have retained five players each and have only one RTM option in the auction, while RR and KKR have no RTM options.

Of course, there is no limit to the number of players a franchise can buy back if they place the highest bids for them during regular bidding at the auction.
