Assassin’s Creed Shadows review | VGC

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a game with undue pressure on his shoulders. The Assassin’s Creed franchise itself is not only in a retention pattern after a transition to the last generation of the RPG genus, but the shadows are now apparently found as a creation or broken project for an editor who is currently fighting.

That is even before entering the online reaction of Storm-in-A-Teacup that caused Ubisoft to launch a goal statement in the goal itself after the goal statement in the historical accuracy of the game, a game of a series that, I will remind you, previously made Leonardo da Vinci make jokes about Super Mario.

There have been many games in the past in which the pre -launch nonsense have torpeda public opinion about a game before someone had the opportunity to play it, and it was easy to see the same destination that happened to Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

That is why it is such a nice surprise to say that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the best entry of the series in more than a decade.

While praising at that time, Assassin’s transition created an extensive role -playing game was possibly the worst thing that happened to the series. Historical tourism and memorable characters remained on the way in favor of the maps that were so great that there are parts of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in which no human has seen.

The shadows feel like the midpoint between those role and Mirage games, a game that was specifically designed to evoke the small -scale personal stories that started the franchise. The map is still large, although it will not take 45 minutes to move for everything, and the endless RPG administrator has been largely eliminated.

The progression of the team is still blocked behind the levels, but there is much less, which means that much less time is spent in the adjacent menus of Destiny 2. The approach, on the other hand, is in the characters and cutting the throat. Assassin’s Creed’s load walls.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows follows Naoe and Yasuke, two strangers in their own way, wrapped in a conspiracy that grabs Japan, just when the country is opening to the broader world. Naoe suffers a tragedy at the beginning of the game, which leads her to hunt a gloomy union. Many necks to cut. The other side of the currency is Yasuke, an imposing black man who is a stranger in each room where he enters. While he has won the respect of his clan due to his incredible skill as Samurai, he cannot avoid feeling ‘others’ wherever he goes.

The game allows you to play the vast majority as any of the characters, changing among them as you want. There are some moments in history that will require one or the other, but outside the start of the game, you are never blocked in any of the options.

This is good, since although I enjoyed Yasuke’s character, and his performance is exemplary, I did not think it was fun to play. In comparison, Naoe can be the best character in the series from a game perspective and one of the 5 main protagonists in the history of Assassin’s Creed.

Naoe is a shinobi. The fantasy of a Desessin’s Japanese credde game, one that has existed during the time that the franchise has done it, is finally executed in Naoe. She is the fastest protagonist that the series has had, is extremely agile and her tool clique makes it a level of creativity and freedom that the series has missed some time.

When Ubisoft finally said he was doing a game of Assassin’s believed in Japan, there was practically a 100 -meter race to make the first joke about how Sony already did that with Ghost of Tsushima, but Naoe is a genuine differentiating play factor.

On the contrary, Yasuke is powerful but incredibly slow. It unfolds better during the segments of history when he and Naoe are working together. Yasuke cleans an area and Naoe ends the goal. Except I rarely wanted to do that. It seemed much more satisfying to infiltrate a castle without even being seen, much less killing any guard. There are few things in video games as satisfactory as reaching their goal, extinguishing them and then leaving without a single alarm.

Yasuke feels like a remnant of the brutal combat of the action of the low point of the series; Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Yasuke remains an important part of the game from a history perspective and has a very well written and well -written secondary plot, but perhaps properly, when you use it as your open world character, it does not fit at all.

Speaking of the open world, Shadows is much more reserved about how many icons fills its open world map, but that does not mean that it does not fall into some tired tropes. While we were really excited when we found a wild fox and we didn’t have to follow it to a sanctuary, there are still too many objectives that need to use their focus skills to follow a blue ball around a map.

The progression system is harmed by this, since the new skills are blocked behind a skill tree that requires knowledge points. These are sometimes rewarded for completing missions, but to a large extent they are acquired by going to the temples and seeking collectibles. The game shows you where they are if you are close enough, but it is an unnecessary administrator.

He infiltrated the castles and sneaks into traditional Japanese houses was some of the funniest I’ve had with the series. Killer someone through a paper door and see the comic amount of blood spray through the parchment never ages.

The other thing that never ages were the incredible images of the game. I think you will have difficulty finding a game in a console that not only works so well, but also maintains such a high level of graphic fidelity. It is not only the quality of lighting and shadows, which are unsurpassed, but the climatic effects, foliage and the level of detail in the architecture around the world are amazing. It is easily one of the most beautiful games ever done.

I really can’t believe how much I enjoyed Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Divorced from all the nonsense to liberation, I have felt so burned with the direction in which the series has been in the last 10 years that I thought this would simply be another ‘The numbers were going’ in Japan, but it is not. He has never been more fun to kill people. The story is very well written and made, and Japan is a beautiful playground.

Yasuke is a great character, if not very good, but Naoe more than compensates. Most of the RPG garbage has been ruled out to the dump of history where it belongs, and a second game made in this ethos, hopefully, will free the series forever.
