Chicago – Eric Bieniemy returns to the NFL.
The NFL assistant coach has been hired by the Chicago Bears for a long time to train the runners, a source confirmed to Adam Schefter from ESPN on Saturday.
Bieniemy, 55, spent the 2024 season as an assistant chief coach and offensive coordinator for UCLA. It was his second period with the Bruins and the second university football program where he served in the staff (Colorado of 2001-02 and 2011-12).
The most recent work of the NFL in Bieniemy was as a chief assistant coach and offensive coordinator for Washington’s commanders in 2023. He previously won two Super Bowls with the Chiefs and spent the seasons from 2013 to 2022 in Kansas City, where he overcame The general manager of the Bears, Ryan Poles.
Well, he was also the runner coach of the Minnesota Vikings from 2006 to 2010. The President and CEO of the Bears, Kevin Warren, was in Minnesota staff at that time as Executive Vice President of Legal Affairs and Administrative Director of the Vikings.
The veteran coach is the second former coordinator who has been added to coach Ben Johnson’s staff in Chicago. The Bears hired Dennis Allen as their defensive coordinator, a role he played in New Orleans from 2015 to 2021 before being appointed coach of the Saints.
