The Houston Rockets eaves, Dillon Brooks, received an automatic suspension of a game after he was whistled by his 16th technical lack of the season during Wednesday’s victory against Utah’s jazz.
The NBA Executive Vice President Joe Dumars announced the suspension on Thursday.
Brooks, who said he expected the League to rescind the technique, was suspended for Friday’s home against Oklahoma City Thunder. He is averaging 13.9 points, 3.7 assists and 1.7 assists this season.
The coach arrived only 4 minutes, 48 seconds in the game while Brooks was trying to publish Collin Sexton from Utah near the basket. With the back to Sexton, Brooks turned inside to try a exchange jumper, but Sexton slipped the ball before Brooks could get off the shot.
During the tracking, Brooks kicked his right leg, which seemed to hit Sexton near the groin. Sexton immediately doubled with pain, since the officials whistled a stop in the game. After a brief review, referee Tony Brothers announced a technical foul for Brooks, which resulted in a free kick for Sexton.
Once a player reaches 16 technical offenses, a possible suspension will increase in one game for every two additional technicians he receives. During the postseason, a player will need to accumulate a total of seven technical offenses before facing the suspension.
Houston assured his first postseason since the 2019-20 season, becoming the second team at the West Conference to reach 50 victories.
