The confrontation of Saturday night between the Golden State Warriors and Detroit Pistons was temporarily delayed after a false fire alarm in Chase Center. Once the situation cleared, fans were allowed to return to their seats and the game resumed.
At the end of the first quarter, fire alarms shot inside the sand and a message was published about the Jumbotron telling fans to leave the building. The announcement was also transmitted by the speakers. Said:
“Attention: a fire alarm has been reported in the building. Continue with the closest exit and leave the building. Do not use elevators.”
A few minutes later, the public direction announcer inside the Arena told fans that it was a false alarm and that they could return to their seats. It is not clear if a fan had already abandoned the building. The fans cheered when they returned to the seat area and, shortly after, the action on the court resumed.
When the game was running again, it was remarkably quieter. Not only because the alarm had turned off, but because the sound system no longer worked, which only added to the rarity. Once you get used to constant music and sound effects on speakers, it is a bit disturbing to see a game without it, even if all the noise is a bit sometimes.
While this was certainly not the night someone had in mind, the good news is that it was a false alarm and everyone is safe.
