Minecraft soundtrack to enter US National Recording Registry

The Minecraft soundtrack will be included in the United States National Recording Registry.

Composed by Daniel Rosengeld, Minecraft: Volume Alpha will be conserved along with the Microsoft Reboot Chime, created by the British musician Brian Eno.

Minecraft’s music is the second soundtrack of the video game to join the registry. The first was the theme of Super Mario Bros. in 2023.

“These are the sounds of America, our wide history and culture,” said the librarian of Congress Carla Hayden.

“The Congress Library is proud and honored to select these audio treasures worthy of preservation, including iconic music in a variety of genres, field recordings, sports history and even the sounds of our daily lives in technology.”

Last year, Minecraft was part of the Culture Canon of the Dataspelsbranschen game of the Swedish Games. It was developed as part of the plans of the Minister of Culture of Sweden of Parisa Liljestrand to develop an official canon of culture for the country.

Earlier this week, the adaptation of the Minecraft film raised $ 157 billion at the United States box office during its first weekend.

It is estimated that the film earned between $ 70 million and $ 80 million. A Minecraft film released last Friday (April 4) with a budget of $ 150 million.
