New Mario on Switch 2? ‘Stay tuned,’ says Nintendo of America president

The president of Nintendo of America, Doug Bowser, has assured players looking for a new Mario game on Switch 2 that will come.

Many players expected to see a new 3D Mario game during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct earlier this month, since the last entry, Super Mario Odyssey, was released eight years ago.

Instead, Nintendo revealed Donkey Kong Baniza, a 3D platform game starring Donkey Kong that seems to use an engine similar to Super Mario Odyssey, even if his development team remains a mystery.

In an interview with CNN, Bowser was asked about the lack of a 3D Mario (or 2D) confirmed game confirmed for Switch 2, but Bowser suggested that fans simply need to keep fire, because one will eventually be on their way.

“Be attentive,” he replied. “You know, we have a long, long catalog and a long list of [intellectual property] I am sure to get to the platform. “

The concern among some players is that if Donkey Kong Baniza is the work of Super Mario Odyssey’s main team, a new 3D Mario of that team could be years away. However, Nintendo is once again being reserved on who is developing the game.

For several recent projects, Nintendo has refused to comment publicly on which specific development team is behind them.

This seems to be the case again with Donkey Kong Baniza. When VGC asked Nintendo who was creating bananza at an event of Press Switch 2 last week, a spokesman said: “Wait that the game throws and review the credits.”

Similarly, when Ign, who was working on Baniza, vice president of product experience and Nintendo of America, Bill Trinen, said: “It is a very good question. You will have to be attentive. We always like to start showing the game and make people focus on the game, but we will have some information to share about the developer over time.”

Nintendo fans will not be completely without Mario on the first day, because the console will be released next to Mario Kart World, the first Mario Kart console game of the first line from the house in 11 years.

In a recent practical view of Mario Kart World, we wrote: “While it may not be evident immediately given its two completely different genres, Mario Kart World will do to change 2 what Zelda’s legend: Breath of the Wild did for the original console.

“Both games take a respected and very dear series and, instead of giving the players a visually improved version of the formula they expect, instead, return to things with innovation in the open world.”
