Orlando, Florida – Russell Wilson entered the World Stadium camping on Saturday and immediately began to look for his stepson. He saw it on the opposite lateral line and made a field line through the field. Wilson didn’t want to do anything without the future Jr. by his side.
After all, Wilson realizes that his tenth Pro Bowl could be the last.
The 36 -year -old field marshal, who was added to Pro Bowl games as an alternative when Josh Allen de Buffalo retired this week, is a free pending agent after spending a year in Pittsburgh.
“I hope to return to the Steelers and we will see what happens to the rest,” Wilson told The Associated Press. “I love Pittsburgh.”
Steelers can have other ideas.
The team president, Art Rooney II, said Monday that he would like to keep Wilson or Justin Fields in a several years agreement. Rooney did not specify which one, but said age could play a factor in the decision.
Fields, which was 4-2 while replaced a injured Wilson at the beginning of the season, turns 26 next month. Wilson had done three Pro Bowls before Fields became a star in Harrison High School in Kenneaw, Georgia.
“I’ve been fortunate to play more than 13 years, and I have much more ball in me,” Wilson said. “I think that staying healthy is always the thing. You have to be healthy to play my best, and I feel good at this time.”
Wilson avoided several questions about the potential meeting with former Seattle coach Pete Carroll in Las Vegas. The Raiders hired Carroll, 73, last month, and speculation quickly continued that Wilson could join him in Las Vegas.
“Pete is going to be a great coach, obviously,” Wilson said. “It’s excellent for what he does. But I’m focused on Steelers.”
Wilson began the last 11 games of the 2024 season after returning from a calf injury he suffered at the beginning of the training camp. He completed 63.7% of his passes for 2,482 yards, with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also ran for 155 yards and two scores.
Steelers’s defensive Tackle, Cameron Heyward, said “it would be huge” to keep Wilson in 2025 before adding fields to his answer.
“I don’t know what will happen, but those field marshals know what they are doing,” Heyward said. “I just hope we find a solution and a recipe to continue winning.”
The closed wing of the Raiders, Brock Bowers, smiled when asked about the notion of playing with Wilson, but stopped to pursue an update about Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew. He said Pepper Wilson did with questions about Carroll.
“He said it’s great, it’s amazing and brings a lot of energy to practices,” Bowers said. “Coach Carroll has won a lot and has a lot of knowledge of football, so I’m excited to see what happens.”
Nobody really knows what follows for Wilson, who got excited about the Steelers.
“Mike Tomlin is special,” said Wilson. “He is an incredible individual. He is one of the best of all time.”
Some would say the same about Wilson, who is one of the three quarterbacks in the history of the NFL to launch at least 2,400 yards in each of its first 13 seasons. It also has more victories (130) in its first 13 seasons of the NFL than each quarterback in the history of the NFL, except Tom Brady (153), Peyton Manning (150), Ben Roethlisberger (136) and Brett Favre (136).
And he has 10 professional bowls, to start.
“It’s a blessing,” Wilson said. “I remember having been here in my rookie year and being close to boys like Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger, Peyton and Eli Manning. And I remember how grateful I was. Ten Pro Bowls later, it’s still a blessing.”
