Kansas City, Mo.-The impulse of Kansas City bosses for a three-tat NFL is alive.
They survived a classic AFC championship game against Buffalo Bills on Sunday, scoring the winning points in the 35-yard field goal by Harrison Butker with 3:33 remaining for a 32-29 victory.
The Chiefs led 21-10 at the end of the first half just to be left behind 22-21 at the end of the third quarter. 11 points scored in the room to claim the victory. Kansas City stopped the Bills in the fourth place near the center of the field after Butker’s kick. The victory was the 17th consecutive of the bosses in games determined by a score, an NFL record.
The Chiefs, who have been five of the last six Super Bowls, will continue their attempt to become the first team to win three consecutive championships in the Super Bowl era in the Super Bowl Lix in two weeks against the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.
Here are the keys to knowing the AFC championship game:
Describe the game in two words: Late rally. The Chiefs continued in the direction of the last quarter, but arrested the Bills in the fourth plane in the center of the field and then scored a touchdown that gave them an advantage of 29-22. Subsequently, the Bills tied the game before Butker’s field goal took Kansas City to victory.
Disagose QB: Patrick Mahomes had one of his best games of the season. Mainly he released fast passes, going 18 for 26 for 245 yards and a touchdown, and was much more acute than in the victory of the divisional round over the Houston Texans. Mohomes was also productive as a corridor, registering 43 yards and two touchdowns. The Bills had been effective to eliminate Mohamses as a runner when the teams gathered in week 11, keeping it without hauling. But Mahomes’ career was an important factor in this contest. Not only did he scored twice, but became the hauling of the fourth attempt in the second quarter that kept alive an impulse that culminated in the second Touchdown of the city of Kansas.
More surprising performance: A week after his great division game against the Texans, the closed wing Travis Kelce had two trapped for 19 yards. But the Chiefs obtained significant contributions from their open receptors, unlike last week. Xavier Worthy scored a touchdown, Justin Watson had a conversion of 2 points and Hollywood Brown and Juju Smith-Schuster combined for five receptions and 95 yards. – Teicher
Next game: Super Bowl Lix, February 9 vs. Eagles, New Orleans, 6:30 pm et (Fox)
Once again, the Dreams of the Super Bowl of the Bills were vanished by the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes.
A season that exceeded expectations and reached new heights had the same family end. A first careful half established a tight room, and Buffalo’s efforts were not enough.
The Bills offensive had the opportunity to build a winning trip in the last quarter, but it seemed not prepared for a bombing in the room and 5 with two remaining minutes in the game. The closed wing Dalton Kincaid did not fall with a late launch of the Campo Marshal Josh Allen.
The Bills have now lost the four postseason meetings against the Chiefs team led by Mohamses since 2020 and eight consecutive road playoff games have fallen. Bills teams led by Allen are 0-2 in the AFC championship game.
The Bills tied the game in 29. But ultimately, the defense could not get out of the field or limit mahomes when necessary. A high school with short hands, with the corner head Christian Benford that left in the first quarter due to a brain shock and safety Taylor Rapp not playing (hip/back), it was not useful.
Allen finished the best season of his career with a mixed performance, completing 22 of 34 passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns. It also had 11 runs for 39 yards.
Describe the game in two words: Postseason kriptonite. The Bills playoffs want the Chiefs to drag once again, and Buffalo will enter the low season with new questions about what this team should do to overcome Kansas City in the postseason.
Greater hole in the game plan: Do not establish the race with James Cook Early. Bills’s hurried attack was key to bringing them to the game’s title game, but it was not an integral part of the offensive in the first half. That did not help keep the ball away from Mohamses and limited the offensive. The offensive coordinator of Buffalo, Joe Brady, called 11 races designed in the first half (four cook), the same amount that the Bills had during the first unit of the second half. Cook succeeded once he started, running for 85 yards and two touchdowns in 13 hauls.
Worrying trend: Careless performance. The offensive unit had six plays that could have been ball losses, with a loose ball by the Ray Davis corridor that recovered, three Allen’s loose balls that recovered and two nearby interceptions. The typable Allen Tush’s thrust game (with a first attempt of 27 of 30 attempt in the game) was inconsistent. The Bills special teams allowed a 41 -yard clearance return that established an eventual touchdown of the Chiefs, and Buffalo’s defense fought to get out of the field, without forcing a clearing until the second half. – Getzenberg
