Eagan, Minnesota. Paul Flaterley, the NFL year of the NFL of the 1963 NFL for the Minnesota Vikings who accumulated more than 3,000 reception yards in five seasons, died at the age of 84, the team announced Sunday.
The team said he died on Saturday, but no additional details were provided.
Changing Flanker Halfack in Northwestern, Flatley was a fourth round selection (44a in general) by Minnesota in the 1963 draft, joining a team in just his third season. He had five trapped for 72 yards in the first game of the season and began the 14 games in his debut season, ending with 51 trapped for 867 yards and four touchdowns.

He took the eighth place in the league in reception yards and was the only rookie who landed in the top 10. He won the Honor AP over the closed wing of Baltimore John Mackey.
Flatley said he was lucky enough to start his career under the Norman Brocklin coach.
“He had been a field marshal All-Star and knew the air game very well,” said Flatley in 2020, according to the Vikings. “And I had a field marshal named Fran Tarkenton, who could keep the ball alive, and I could execute several patterns in the same game, and he would find myself. I learned the game due to those two people, and I was lucky enough to be a Vikingo de Minnesota.”
For five seasons with the Vikings, Flatley played in 64 games and had 202 trapped for 3,222 yards and 17 touchdowns. After his career as a player, he was a color commentator for the Soccer Transmission team of the University of Minnesota for years.
