Vinicius Junior: the minor who racially abused the Real Madrid forward suspended, says the club

Real Madrid have said that a minor who racially abused the club’s striker Vinicius Junior has received a one-year suspension and also a fine.

The incident occurred during a La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano last season.

The Spanish champions said the minor admitted his misconduct, apologized to Vinicius in a letter and accepted the punishment imposed by the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.

The undisclosed fine was imposed by the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sports.

Real Madrid said in a statement: “The minor who used racist insults towards our player Vinicius Junior… has apologized and expressed his regret for his behavior in a letter of apology.

“As a result of the extrajudicial agreement, he agreed to carry out the socio-educational activities proposed by the Public Ministry for Minors and to refrain from entering the stadiums where official competitions are held for a period of one year. “

Real added that since June, whether in criminal or juvenile courts, four cases of racism against its players have resulted in sanctions for racist acts.

In October, four people were arrested in Spain for allegedly carrying out an online campaign of hate and racism against Vinicius, who broke down at a press conference earlier this year when speaking about the racist abuse he had suffered.
