Will the UK get a Super Nintendo World at the new Universal theme park?

Today, Universal Studios announced that a new theme park will arrive in the United Kingdom in 2031, with the agreement closed by the United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer after years of planning.

But will this new Universal Studios include a world of Super Nintendo as its Japanese and American equivalents?

The new park will be a multimillionaire investment located in Bedford, although so far its thematic areas are unknown beyond conceptual art launched together with the announcement.

This conceptual art shows an entrance area with a giant universal balloon (typical of the parks), with a series of areas around a central lake that contains roller coasters and other walks.

Beyond the fact that everything seems too bright and sunny to really be in the United Kingdom, it is difficult to determine exactly which universal franchises represent the areas, which leads to great speculation among the enthusiasts of the thematic parks.

If the part of the United Kingdom coincided with Japan and the United States, we could see areas based on Jurassic Park, Minions, Harry Potter and Super Mario.

Of these, Harry Potter certainly seems the most likely contender that he considers his base of the United Kingdom.

Nintendo has not yet recognized the news. Eurogamer has requested comments.

In statements to the BBC Breakfast, the Secretary of Culture, Lisa Nandy, said: “It is not just about bringing great US creations to Britain, it is also about showing great British creations to the world.

“These are things like James Bond, Paddington Bear, these are things like Harry Potter. We have much to be proud.”

It remains to be seen if we will see areas based on these properties.

Online fans have intensely analyzing the conceptual area, with conjectures that include Wicked and the Lord of the Rings, along with those mentioned above.

When it opens, the Park will rival Alton Towers and Legraland Windsor, as well as Disneyland Paris.

Super Nintendo World in Japan opened its expansion of Donkey Kong at the end of last year, including the roller mountain of Mine-Cart Madness that simulates a mines cart that comes out of the track.

In the United States, Super Nintendo World opened in Universal Studios Hollywood in 2023, but it is a much smaller iteration. An equivalent in Orlando has just opened in the new universal epic universe to rival the park in Japan with the areas of Mario and Donkey Kong.

The Nintendo’s Switch 2 line also reflects the thematic parks, with Mario Kart World in the launch in June and the new Donkey Kong Kong 3D Platformer a month later.
