WPL 2024/25, Mi-W vs RCB-W 20th Match Preview

Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, March 11, 2025

What to expect: RCB seeks to end up

Mumbai Indians almost secured a direct place in the final on Monday. They needed to keep Gujarat giants 156 or less, but the Bharti Fulmali inputs did not allow it. The opportunity was lost, but they will not worry too much: they not only won the match against the Gujarat giants and kept their perfect record at the Brabourne Stadium, but also have one more opportunity to finish on the table. They are on par with the capital of Delhi of the table at points. The only point of concern, if any, would be that they will have to return within 24 hours to achieve it.

Although the movement to open to Amelia Kerr has not made a big difference with the Allrounder falling at a low price in both games, my will be happy that Nat Sciver-Brunt did not have to do heavy work once more. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur made a fifty and there were useful contributions of the average order. His bowling players were excellent in the front and, although they lost the plot in the second half of the persecution, they kept calm to defend 179 on a friendly surface for the batting.

Meanwhile, RCB will regret what it could have been. The defending champions had bad luck with the launch in the four games at the M Chinnaswamy stadium, which meant that they had to do the difficult task of hitting first in a land where the persecution team won seven of eight games. They still had a small possibility of reaching the playoffs that set aside in a high score thriller against UP Warriorz and are now reaching this contest in the back of five consecutive losses.

RCB also had similar problems from beginning to end, even playing this season with a weakened bowling attack and depending on a couple of players to assume most of the responsibility. In his previous party, it was the Warriorz out of containment who took RCB with them, and now RCB will seek to ruin the possibilities of me wanting to end at the top.

MY Wwlww (the last five games, the most recent first)
RCB Lllll

It is unlikely that my winning combination will change.

Mumbai Indians (probable XI): 1 Hayley Matthews, 2 Amelia Kerr, 3 Nat Sciver-Brunt, 4 Harmanpreet Kaur (Capt), 5 Amanjot Kaur, 6 Yastika Bhatia (WK), 7 g kamalini, 8 S Sajana, 9 Sanskrit Gufpta, 10 Shabnim Ismail, 11 Paraunika Sisodia

RCB made two changes for the previous game, bringing Charlie Dean for Danni Wyatt-Hodge and the opener S Meghana for the left arm spinner Ekta Bisht. While Dean had a hard exit, granting 47 in his four Overspin overs, Meghana had a quick start.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (Probable XI): 1 smriti mandhana (Capt), 2 S Meghana, 3 Ellyse Perry, 4 Raghvi Bisht, 5 Richa Ghosh (WK), 6 Kanika Ahuja, 7 Georgia Wareham, 8 Sneh Rana, 9 Charlie Dean, 10 Kim Garth, 11 Renuka Singh

Players to see: Harmanpreet Kaur and Sneh Rana

Harmanpreet Kaur returning to form is great news for me. Upon entering the game against the giants with 4, 22 and 4*scores, he scored a crucial 54 to boost his team to 179. He has three fifty in four entries in the Brabourne Stadium on WPL and will want to make the most of the advantage at home to ensure a second title for his team.
Actions like the one facing Up Warriorz makes one wonder why Sneh Rana is not in the scheme T20 of things for India. Rana looted Decepti Sharma for 25 of five balls, giving RCB a great opportunity to hunt 226, but ran out of partners at the other end with three remaining balls in the persecution. In his first game for RCB This Wpl, Rana returned with 3 by 27, but has been underutilized with the ball in this edition. She has launched her complete quota only once in the four games. Rana for the last time played a T20I for India in 2023.
  • This is the second time in the WPL that RCB has lost five games in a row, the last time in the 2023 season
