The Microsoft Games Chief has hinted at a future for the Indiana Jones franchise within Xbox game Studios, after the launch of The Great Circle.
Indiana Jones and The Great Circle de Machinegames launched for Xbox and PC in December to positive reviews, accumulating more than four million players, according to Microsoft.
With the machine guns that currently work in DLC for the game, and a version of PlayStation 5 that will be launched this week, Variety asked Phil Spencer of Microsoft if the company has larger plans for ‘Indy’.
“I will say that we are very happy with ‘Indy’ and the players and the reception,” Spencer replied. “We believe there is life in that franchise, and I will leave it on that. We are throwing ourselves in PlayStation here very soon. I think it will be a great moment.”
He continued: “I really inspired the machine games that took the IP of another person and doing something so unique, and I am inspired by what that team can do next. Certain people pushed them to the first person versus the third person. And I think that once you play it, you realize that you are Indy.
“But in the future, I want to give teams the ability to make our own games and our own franchises. We also have a lot of space to tell new stories. And I want to make sure it is an option for us.”
The game for a first -person player takes place in 1937, between the events of the Raiders of the Lost Ark and Last Crusade Films.
Go to players embark on an adventure on the globe to prevent sinister forces from discovering and take advantage of an old power connected to the great circle.
The Machinegames developer is currently working on Story DLC for the game called The Order of the Giants, which will be launched in 2025.
The head of the Lucasfilm Games, Douglas Reilly, also recently said that it would be “super interesting” “telling more and more stories of Indiana Jones.” “I think we are always looking for great stories,” he said. “And the good news is that there is a lot of space between the films where we could tell more and more stories of Indiana Jones that I think they would be super interesting.”
