The New Strand Skating Movement Technique in Destiny 2 Lightfall

Players of Destiny 2 are still using Strand to discover new ways to move around the game, such as a new skating technique that lets them move through the maps incredibly quickly.

Players are learning new skills like Strand Skating as they become more accustomed to the game's new systems in Destiny 2: Lightfall. In general, the community seems to have embraced the new Strand darkness subclass, especially since Bungie removed the time-gated restrictions on fragments. Players have access to abilities to control the psychic energy known as the Weave, which connects all living things and minds in the universe.

Although using Strand to suspend and sever enemies can be entertaining, players have discovered that the new grapple ability, which takes the place of the grenade slot, is more potent than they initially believed. Fans have already used Strand grappling to navigate maps more quickly, either by grabbing rival players, teammates, or rockets that have been launched, or by riding super moves like the Titan's Thundercrash. However, one player discovered that Strand appears to unlock a new skating movement technique, allowing for much faster movement than would otherwise be possible.

A user by the name of Dazzling-Fortune9986 posted an update to Strand Skating, a method that enables players to move quickly across maps, on the raidsecrets subReddit of Destiny 2. The Strand subclass, the new sword Caretaker, and the Valiant Charge perk on it must all be unlocked in order to use the technique, which is described in a video by InSaNeGaMeR300. The player can accelerate quickly by combining a heavy attack with a Strand dive and a jump on any sort of decline.

While playing around with Destiny 2, Dazzling-Fortune9986 has been working to improve the input consistency and appears to have developed a double skate move. If the player character does not leave the ground after the first swing, Dazzling-Fortune9986 can perform a ground skate that can combo into another skate using similar inputs and a slight slope. It turns out that teammates can shoot the player to initiate Valiant Charge, making it a little bit simpler to execute this move in a group.

While Bungie's response to this recently discovered tactic is unknown, Destiny 2 players shouldn't be too shocked if it ends up getting nerfed. The game has featured many "skating" moves over the years, including a well-liked one involving swords. These Sword Skating techniques have been used by players to access areas of maps that Bungie never intended, skip lengthy sections or encounters, and open chests without engaging in combat. Naturally, this has led to the nerfing or removal of swords and a number of movement techniques.

Destiny 2: Lightfall is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
