Pokémon Stadium Is Coming to Nintendo Switch Online With a Big Catch

Pokémon Stadium

Are you a fan of the original Pokémon games? Have you been eagerly waiting for the arrival of Pokémon Stadium on Nintendo Switch Online? The good news is that the battle-focused N64 game will be available to NSO subscribers from April 12th. But  you will not be able to bring your own Pokémon into the game.

Pokémon Stadium is a battle-focused game featuring the original 151 pocket monsters. It was first released in 2000 and became an instant hit among Pokémon fans. The game allows players to battle their pokémon against other trainers in various battle modes, including Gym Leader Castle, Prime Cup, and Petit Cup.

The ability to transfer your own pokémon from Game Boy Pokémon games to the N64 version using the Transfer Pak is one of the game's standout features. This feature allowed players to see their favorite Pokémon battle in 3D, which was a revolutionary at the time.

Unfortunately, players cannot insert their own Pokémon into the version of Pokémon Stadium that will be playable on Nintendo Switch Online. This means that players will have to rely on the game's rental teams to battle against other trainers. While rental teams are available in the original game, it's not quite the same as using your own pokémon that you've trained and grown attached to.

Nintendo first announced that Stadium was coming to Nintendo Switch Online during its September 2022 Direct. The company also revealed that games like Pokémon Stadium 2, Excitebike 64, and 1080° Snowboarding were also headed to the service.

To play N64 games on Nintendo Switch Online, you'll need to subscribe to the more expensive expansion pack tier. This tier also includes GoldenEye 007 another classic N64 game. Fans have been eagerly waiting for this.

Bring your own Pokémon into Pokémon Stadium was a major selling point for many players. The ability to view your favorite Pokémon battle in three dimensions was a revolutionary feature at the time and increased the game's immersion. It's unclear how enjoyable the game will be for players who were looking forward to reliving their childhood memories without this feature.

The arrival of Pokémon Stadium on Nintendo Switch Online is an exciting development for fans of the original Pokémon games. The fact is you can't transfer your own pokémon into the game is a big catch that may be a deal-breaker for some fans. Nevertheless, the game's rental teams and various battle modes are still available, which should provide some entertainment for fans who are willing to give the game a chance.
