Zelda producer claims no Tears of the Kingdom DLC is planned

Producer of The Legend of Zelda series Eiji Aonuma has stated that no further content for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is planned.

Aonuma told Famitsu that there are no plans to release extra content for the game this time since he believes the team has done all possible in terms of gameplay options.

"At this time, we do not intend to release additional content," Aonuma (Robert Sephazon Translated) stated. "We feel like we've already exhausted all of the gameplay possibilities in this world."

"At first, we decided to make a sequel because we thought there was still value in experiencing new gameplay within that specific Hyrule."

"If we find a compelling reason in the future, we may return to that world." Whether it's a sequel or a brand new title, I feel the next game will provide an entirely new experience. I'm hoping you'll enjoy it."

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom takes place in a heavily remixed version of the Hyrule overworld from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Breath of the Wild got two significant pieces of DLC: The Master Trials, which offered new gameplay modes, and The Champions' Ballad, which provided new story content and a motorcycle.

Tears of the Kingdom was originally planned as DLC for Breath of the Wild, but after gathering too many fresh ideas, it was decided to produce a totally unique sequel instead.

According to Nintendo, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sold 10 million copies in its first three days after its debut on May 12.

This makes it the fastest-selling game in the series' history, as well as the fastest-selling Nintendo title in Europe and the Americas.
