Berea, Ohio-with a week until the NFL draft, it is not clear what position the two-way Torvis Hunter star will play as a professional, and if he will play on both sides of the ball.
However, the general manager of the Cleveland Browns, Andrew Berry, believes that Hunter is worth one of the best elections in the draft, even if he plays only one position, and compared it with the star of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani, to describe his value.
“It’s a bit like Ohtani, where when he plays aside, he is an outstanding player,” Berry said Thursday during his Pred Areft press conference. “If he is a pitcher, he is a batter, he is an outstanding player. Obviously you get a unicorn if you use it both ways.”
Hunter, described the prospect number 2 of Scouts Inc., won the Heisman trophy in university football after playing 1,481 snapshots on offense and defense, almost 300 more than any other player in the FBS. He recorded 15 TouchDown trapped, tied in second place in the FBS, and intercepted four passes, tied in third place in Big 12. Hunter, who is currently the favorite of bets to be selected by the Browns with Selection No. 2, he said he hopes to continue playing with the offensive and defense in the NFL.
Ohtani, three times MVP in Major League Baseball, has starred as a pitcher and batter. He won his first two MVP playing on both sides and then captured his third in his first season with the Dodgers last year, becoming the first full -time batter to win an MVP. This occurred when Ohtani was rehabilitating a second important elbow surgery that prevented him from launching.
Berry has said that Browns see Hunter mainly as an open receiver in the NFL, but are open to him as a defensive back. However, Berry added that all options remain open for Cleveland in regards to selection No. 2.
“We will use the entire shooting clock,” he said.
