IPL 2025 – Delhi Capitals News – Harry Brook retires from IPL per second year in operation

Harry Brook has retired from his IPL agreement with Delhi Capitals (DC) for the second season. As a consequence, I could face a two -year prohibition of competition.

Espncricinfo learned that Brook’s decision to retire was transported by ECB officials to BCCI last week, and then transmitted to DC, who had bought Brook for INR 6.25 million rupees (£ 590,000) in the mega aast of IPL last November.

There is still no official line about the development of the IPL, but Brook published on social networks* that he needed “time to recharge after the busiest period of my career to date.” He is considered a favorite to replace Jos Buttler as the captain of the white ball of England after his elimination of the group stage in the Champions Trophy and, as a player of all formats with 18 months to run in his central contract of the ECB, the management of the workload could be a factor in the withdrawal. The ECB has been contacted to comment.

“I have made the decision very difficult to withdraw from the next IPL,” Brook tweeted. “I apologize without reservations to the capitals of Delhi and his followers. I love the cricket. Since I was a child, I have dreamed of playing for my country, and I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to play the game I love at this level.

“With the guidance of the people I trust, I have taken the time to seriously consider this decision. It is a really important time for the Crick of England, and I want to compromise completely to prepare for the next series. To do this, I need time to recharge after the most busy period in my career. The opportunities they have given me and the support I receive.”

The decision left him vulnerable to a two -year prohibition of the IPL. The new rule was implemented before the 2025 auction, and is based on the comments of the ten franchises, which have expressed their frustration in the series of late exaggerations by foreign players.

In a note to franchises last September, the IPL said: “Any [overseas] Player [an] The auction and, after being chosen at the auction, it is not available before the start of the season, it will be forbidden to participate in the IPL/IPL auction for two seasons. “

The only exception, said the Governing Council, would be “a medical condition/injury, which will have to be confirmed by the [player’s] Local Board “.

This is the second consecutive year that Brook has retired before the start of an IPL season, with DC the team affected both times. Last March, ten days before his first game of the season, Brook informed DC that he was retiring to be with his family after his grandmother’s death. The duel had already made him retire from England’s test tour of India in February.

IPL 2025 will begin on March 22 with the DC opening accessory against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Visakhapatnam on March 24. DC has not yet announced its captain for the season.

Brook has played an IPL season, in 2023, when he suffered a difficult campaign with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He made 190 races at 22.11 in 11 games, but more than half of them arrived in a single notable entry, not out of 55 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Eden Gardens.
