World consumer spending for PC and console games fell 2% to $ 80.2 billion last year, but it is expected to increase to $ 85.2 billion in 2025.

This is according to Newzoo, which today published its PC and Console gaming Report 2025.

The market intelligence firm predicts that the general growth of the market at 2027 will reach $ 92.7 billion and will be “predominantly driven by console.”

The console took the main participation in the market of $ 42.8 billion, with premium titles that represent 46% of the console’s revenues at $ 19.9 billion, 14% less year -on -year.

Free games included 32% of revenues of $ 13.9 billion, an increase of 4.5% year -on -year. Subscriptions saw an action of 16% to $ 6.9 billion, an increase of 14.1% year -on -year.

As for the PC, it contributed $ 37.3 billion with free games that represent 58% of the total income of the PC at $ 24. Billions, 1.4% more year -on -year. Premium games comprised 28% of income at $ 10.7 billion, 2.6% lower.

“The growth of the console is expected to return in 2025 for key matching titles,” said Newzoo, and said it will be promoted by the anxiously expected robbery of robbery 6 and the launch of Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025.

Looking at the game time, it grew by 6% year -on -year with the fourth quarter of 2024 establishing the highest quarterly game record.

According to Newzoo, this increase was promoted by matching games and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

The new releases represented 12% of the total game time in 2024, with the remaining fortnite the most played game with 9.3% of the total game time in 2024 (compared to 9.1% in 2023).

“In general, the time hours are growing but concentrated in AAA and sometimes cannibalistic,” said Newzoo. “The battle for audience hours is fierce and almost zero sum.”

“The PC leans a lot towards the oldest and most free titles, while the console depends on the board.”
