It seems that Nintendo Switch Peders -oders to Canadian players will be delayed beyond the scheduled date of April 9, according to a statement published by Nintendo Canada to Mobilesyrup.
The statement, which Mobilesyrup states was received by Nintendo de Canada, says the following, “the early orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in Canada will not begin on April 9, 2025 to align with the early time to be determined in the Nintendo of the USA. UU will provide updated information on a later date.

This occurs following a similar delay that hit Nintendo American fans last Friday, which Nintendo said it was so that it could “evaluate the potential impact of rates and the evolutionary conditions of the market.” These conditions are the established tariffs that the United States has raised against countries such as China, Vietnam and more. These two appointed countries are relevant, since that is where Switch 2 is being manufactured.
Especially given the growing commercial tensions between the United States and China, such tariffs would surely increase the price of buying the Nintendo Switch 2 in the United States. Why Canada has been beaten by a similar delay is a little less clear. Nintendo establishes in the statement that “it is aligned with the moment of early orders in the United States”, but why it is important does not expand. Maybe Nintendo is worried that consumers order consoles through services of Canadian intermediaries to avoid additional costs, or simply want to keep North America aligned to not show a preferential treatment to one country over the other.
