“I never know what is going to happen,” Decosta said at the Ravens press conference. “And I would never mean this or that. But I can tell you this: Mark Andrews is a warrior. He has played his butt for us.”
Andrews, 29, is entering the last year of his four -year contract and $ 56 million and comes from one of the most frustrating seasons of his career. He averaged 39.6 yards of game reception last season, which was the worst since his rookie season 2018.
The low point for Andrews occurred during the loss of playoffs of the Buffalo 27-25 of Baltimore in Buffalo, where he dropped a conversion of 2 points that would have tied the game with remaining 1:33. All this has led to the speculation of whether Baltimore would be open to Andrews trade during the draft.
But Andrews is a closed wing of three times PRO Bowl that has been Lamar Jackson’s favorite objective. After seven seasons, Andrews occupies the third place in the history of the franchise with 436 receptions (36 less than the Ravens record) and the second with 5,530 yards receiving (248 less than the team’s brand). Last season, Andrews surpassed Jamal Lewis as a touchdown leader of all Ravens and has totaled 51 for his career.
“His competitiveness, his talent, his attitude, his leadership is so valued here,” Decosta said. “He is a great player. And I think we are in the business of keeping as many great players as we can. Therefore, there is always a lot of unpredictability with the Draft. You just know.”
The Ravens collected the bonus of the list of $ 4 million of Andrews on March 17. Its salary top number is $ 16.9 million, which occupies third place in the team. Baltimore would earn $ 11 million in capitalization space by separating from Andrews.
The Ravens have a lot of depth in the wing closed with the increase in the support of Isaiah probably, who established career maximums last season at receptions (42), Yardas (477) and trapped by TouchDown (six). Upon entering the last year of his rookie agreement, he has probably intensified repeatedly when Andrews has been injured and could be a main candidate to receive an extension of the contract.
But the Ravens coach John Harbaugh provided a vote of confidence for Andrews at the annual league meeting last month.
“I completely hope that I play for us next year,” said Harbaugh on March 31. “He is a player too good. Mark would be one of the few guys who would expect to be here, so we will see what happens. My plans are that we have Mark, we have Isaiah, we have Charlie. [Kolar, and] We have Pat Ricard in his place doing all those works. ”
Decosta also refused to go into details about a possible extension of the contract with the Derrick Henry corridor. In his first season in Baltimore, Henry ran for 1,921 yards, the 11th more in an individual NFL season. His 18 touchdowns established a new record of a single franchise season.
Henry, 31, is scheduled to win $ 6 million in the last year of his contract, which occupies the fifth place among the runners in 2025. Last month, Saquon Barkley signed an extension of two years and $ 41.2 million with the Philadelphia Eagles to become the best paid corridor in the league.
“So we have many different balls in the air at this time,” Decosta said. “That is probably what I would say about it. I will not talk about what we are doing, what we are not doing behind the scene in terms of these guys. I don’t think it’s good for me to do that.”
