Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), a competitive first-person shooter game, has been enjoyed by avid FPS gamers for over a decade. Although it has been updated several times over the years, it was beginning to feel old and there had been talk of a prospective sequel. Now that CS: GO's attach into Counter-Strike 2 has been confirmed, it will follow Overwatch's path.
You won't have to learn how to play the game all over again once the sequel is released. Counter-Strike 2 is planned as a major improvement to CS:GO, promising a graphic overhaul of its most iconic maps without changing the technical aspects. Expect improved lighting and textures for a more immersive and visually pleasing experience without having to navigate uncharted territory. Keep in mind, though, that some maps have experienced a comprehensive, top-to-bottom update.
The gameplay should not change significantly, but there will be several updates. There will be no time delay between clicking and shooting, and the smoke grenades have been redesigned for greater realism.
How to Register Counter-Strike 2 for Early Access?
You can try it for yourself if you're excited about this new version of the game, or if you're curious but skeptical of the outcome. However, keep in mind that you will need to meet a few criteria, and patience may be required. You will not be able to register for the beta directly, but you may be chosen by the developers to participate. Simply launch CS:GO on Steam and look for a notification in the main menu to see if you've received an invitation.
Don't be worried if you haven't received an invitation. The Counter-Strike 2 development team plans to expand their base of testers as development progresses until the game is released this summer. To qualified for the beta, you must meet the following requirements:
- Your playing time on the official CS:GO servers
- Your VAC status on Steam
- Your integrity as a player
To qualified for the Counter-Strike 2 beta, you must have played a certain number of hours on the official Counter-Strike: Global Offensive servers and never been banned in-game. Go to Steam settings, then the "Account" section, and look for the "VAC status" line to check your VAC status. The window will confirm whether or not you have been banned.
While the developers have not indicated a specific release date, we do know that Counter-Strike 2 will be available this summer. In the meantime, continue playing on the official servers to increase your chances of joining the beta testers.
