The Elder Scrolls 6 is currently in the early stages of development, according to the game developer. Bethesda was officially announced the Elder Scrolls 6 in 2018.

Pete Hines, Head of Publishing at Bethesda Softworks, revealed during an interview that The Elder Scrolls VI is already in development. In response to a question about the game being in pre-production or conceptual stages, he stated that it is now in actual development. However, he clarified that the game is still in its early stages of development.

Hines was asked if fans will hear more about The Elder Scrolls 6 after the release of Starfield. "We have put all of our studio's focus on making this game the best it can be," he said, as translated by ResetEra user Shoot.

"There are people working on The Elder Scrolls 6, but this is what the studio has prioritized." So, no, you won't be hearing anything about The Elder Scrolls 6 anytime soon. Starfield is our current priority, and it will remain so for some time before we discuss anything else."

Hines responded, "No. The Elder Scrolls 6 is not currently in pre-production. However, it is still in the early stages of development.

Leaked screenshots from Starfield had previously surfaced online, revealing brand-new information such as character traits and inventory management. The screenshots were allegedly taken from a public Starfield QA build. Furthermore, Starfield's updated Steam EULA now includes a reference to "Creation Credits," implying that the Creation Club or paid mods service may be returning. According to the terms and conditions, the game's "Creation Credits" are "Virtual Currency" and are subject to them.

The announcement was made alongside a brief teaser trailer at E3 2018, but aside from small snippets here and there, Bethesda hasn't revealed much about the game, most likely because it's still a long way off.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirmed The Elder Scrolls 6 is still "five plus years away" during Microsft's FTC trial in June, meaning fans will have to wait a long, long time to play Bethesda's next fantasy RPG.
