Sony has announced plans to raise the price of a 12-month PlayStation Plus subscription by up to 35%. Subscription plans for all tiers will be increased to 12 months in September.
The cost of a 12-month subscription to the service's Essential, Extra, and Premium plans will increase starting on September 6 by at least 33% for each tier in the US, at least 20% in Europe, and at least 19% in the UK.
PlayStation Plus Essential currently costs $59.99 / £49.99 / €59.99 per year, Extra costs $99.99 / £83.99 / €99.99, and Premium costs $119.99 / £99.99 / €119.99.
The following new prices will be implemented beginning next month:

Sony announced on Wednesday that the 12-month subscription will continue to be discounted when compared to purchasing one-month or three-month subscriptions over a 12-month period.
A one-month subscription to PlayStation Plus costs $9.99/£6.99/€8.99 for Essential, $14.99/£10.99/€13.99 for Extra, and $17.99/£13.49/€16.99 for Premium.
Current 12-month subscribers will not see price increases until their next renewal date, which is on or after November 6. Any membership changes made on or after September 6, such as upgrades, downgrades, or purchasing more time, will, however, update their plan to reflect the new prices.
Adam Michel, director of content acquisition and operations at Sony Interactive Entertainment, claims that the price increases "will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service." There was no word on what additional value it would provide subscribers.
Sony also revealed the September PlayStation Plus Essential games. Saints Row (PS5, PS4), Black Desert - Traveler Edition (PS4), and Generation Zero (PS4) are the titles.
In July, Microsoft raised the price of Xbox Game Pass. A Game Pass console subscription's monthly price increased from $9.99 to $10.99 (£7.99 to £8.99 / €9.99 to €10.99), while the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate price increased from $14.99 to $16.99 (£10.99 to £12.99 / €12.99 to €14.99).
The price of PC Game Pass has not changed, remaining at $9.99 / £7.99 per month.
