With the head making a fast half century to establish the tone for the great victory of Australia, Konstas was ready to lose the team again for the second game starting Thursday.
Konstas trained with the team in his main session in Galle on Tuesday before packing his suitcases to fly back to Australia at night, cricket Australia confirmed.
Australia selectors determined that the 19 -year -old would serve better to align for NSW against Queensland on Saturday at the Gabba, a test place in which he has never played, to see from the bank in Galle. The selectors value players who get experience in home test places. He was part of the reason why Nathan McSweeney received the approval at the beginning of the Border-Gavaskar series, since Konstas has not played in the Oval of Gabba or Adelaide.
Australia will have adequate brabral shock substitutes in the absence of Konstas, with 15 remaining in the team and the Tanveer Sangha development player.
The tour was the first of Konstas with the Australian team to the subcontinent, but previously attended development camps in Chennai and Sri Lanka.
You may have an additional opportunity to improve your skills against Spin with an Australia to Tour by India in process for later in 2025.
After his famous start for life as a test player, Sri Lanka’s tour may have shaped Konstas, who lost the selection and was then attacked by a stomach insect.
But Head said Konstas would have learned from touring experience.
“Sam is a great part of where we go, there is no doubt about it,” Head said. “Disappointed that the first test has been lost, but it’s great for him to be here, great for him to experience conditions.”
The boss expected Konstas to return to the top of the batting order when Australia traveled to England for the final of the World Testing Championship against South Africa in June.
“Most likely to return in the average order and Sam will open,” Head said.
