Players of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Want a Crossbow Buff

Players of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 are dissatisfied with the Crossbow, complaining that it is underwhelming and urging Raven Software to improve the weapon.

The new Crossbow weapon in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 hasn't been well received by players. Although a fan favorite from the original game, the sequel's version is noticeably weaker than the original, much to the chagrin of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 players.

The second installment of the free-to-play battle royale series, Call of Duty: Warzone 2, will be released in November 2022 by Activision, Raven Software, and Infinity Ward. Despite the fact that Warzone 2 was released as a component of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it can be played independently of the main game. In addition to a revamped Gulag system and the addition of a larger number of AI-controlled enemies, Warzone 2 has more content than its predecessor. According to review aggregator site Metacritic, the game received "generally favorable" reviews, scoring 80 on PC and 79 on PS5.

The popular Crossbow weapon from Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 returned with the release of Season 2 last month. Fans were disappointed, though, because unlike in the first Call of Duty: Warzone, the Crossbow no longer results in a one-hit death. In Call of Duty: Warzone 2, it is not the only returning weapon to receive a nerf, nor is this the first time that Raven Software has specifically nerfed the Crossbow. Many fans, however, were dissatisfied with the change, especially in light of how difficult it is to obtain the Crossbow in Warzone 2.

The Crossbow was first used as a one-shot kill weapon in the initial Call of Duty: Warzone. This was overpowered, though, and Raven Software quickly changed it so that the Crossbow's bolts instead put targets in a Downed state. The weapon is further weakened in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 so that it now requires two shots to take down a target. This seems to be related to Raven Software's deliberate choice to exclude one-hit weapons from the game. Given that arrows have a much more severe drop-off than other weapons, headshots are still instantly lethal but extremely challenging.

Although the developers of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 may see this as reasonable, fans are not pleased with the change. The Crossbow is already a single-shot weapon with a three-second reload time, as a Warzone 2 player on Reddit noted. The weapon is much less effective than it once was because it takes two shots to take down an enemy, especially given the game's current meta. Fans of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 are requesting Raven Software to restore the Crossbow to its pre-previous game state.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and, Xbox Series X/S
